MISSION STATEMENT:
East County Water Control District's mission is to manage, protect, improve and preserve the natural resources within the District in a fiscally responsible manner.
Who is ECWCD?
In 1845, Florida came
into the Union. At that time, one of the major questions was whether
Florida could be drained to be made usable for urban, industrial and commercial
purposes. East County Water Control District was created on May 5,
1958. It encompasses over 63,000 acres of land and approximately 311 miles
of canals. ECWCD is a political sub-division of the State of
Florida and is funded through the collection of an acreage tax.
